The International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ISECS) seeks to bring together and support a diverse and inclusive community of researchers and scholars from all sections of society, in a spirit of tolerance and shared values.
ISECS members are expected to treat other members, colleagues and associates with dignity, tolerance and respect, irrespective of their background, identity and characteristics. These characteristics may include (but are not limited to) age, disability, ethnicity, gender, nationality, race, religion and sexual orientation.
ISECS undertakes to encourage further engagement of scholars from diverse institutions and disciplines, with its member societies drawn from different regions of the world. It seeks to ensure a wide representation of disciplines and countries are represented amongst its officers and the participants in events it organizes including the Enlightenment Congress.
In concrete terms, via its constituent societies, ISECS will welcome researchers and scholars working in a full range of relevant academic disciplines, regardless of their professional status (from postgraduate students to senior academics, as well as those without academic appointments), and regardless of their backgrounds, identities or characteristics.
