August 2023
We would like to congratulate Marc-Olivier St-Pierre on the defense of his thesis on August 22, 2023. Dr. St-Pierre received a mention of excellence for his research work. We wish Dr. St-Pierre all the best.
October 2022
We were fortunate to welcome Dr. Archambeault, a physiatry resident, to our laboratory to collect data on changes in median nerve perineural pressures following sectioning of the bicipital aponeurosis.

Congratulations to Felix-Antoine who will be funded through the Canada Graduate Scholarship Program at the Master's level for his project entitled : Improving the understanding of neurodynamic techniques applied to nerve compression syndromes: in-vitro exploration of avenues in the management of the superficial fibular nerve. Congratulations Félix-Antoine!
Congratulations to Mohammad on being awarded the PBEEE 2021-2022 International Student Excellence Award. This scholarship will allow him to focus on his research in the laboratory. Congratulations Mohammad!

Mohammad's projects are going very well. After publishing a literature review on the use of ultrasound at the lumbar level, he is currently working on the use of this tool in cadaveric specimens. Here you can see a 3D image of a lumbar segment. On the left you see a lateral view. On the right you see a posterior view of the lumbar segment.

The new articulated arm surmounted by the scanner allows to obtain scans of anatomical parts. Here below you can see a scan of the joint capsule with small markers on it. These markers allow us to measure the stretching and displacement of the hip ligaments in relation to different movements. These methods were developed for the thesis of Marc-Olivier St-Pierre (PhD).

Here you can see the experimental set-up with the new Hexagon articulated arm. A metrology scanner has also been purchased in the last few days to allow anatomical part scanning and model comparison.
September and October 2021
The research chair hosted the Myofascial, Diacutaneous and Myoaponeurotic Fibrolysis training in its premises. The 35-hour training for manual therapists took place over two weekends (September 4-6 and October 23-24) and was taught by Prof. Sobczak and his collaborator Prof. Brismée. 19 participants took part and were able to review their topographical anatomy while practicing the fibrolysis technique.

Félix-Antoine and Marc-Olivier presented their results at the International Society of Biomechanics Congress via Zoom
Felix-Antoine's poster presentation was entitled: In Vitro mechanical effects of a specific neurodynamic mobilization of the superficial fibular nerve: a cadaveric study.
Marc-Olivier's oral presentation was entitled: In-vitro bi compartmental approach to assess intra-capsular pressure in the hip joint during movements: Does the acetabular cavity also presents pressure fluctuations as the capsular chamber?
May 26, 2021
Marc-Olivier presented his results at the Canadian Society of Biomechanics conference. The title of his oral presentation was: Intracapsular pressure of the hip: Joint movements, capsular compartments, what to look for in the clinical evaluation?

New student in PhD program
In summer 2021, Mohammad Reza Effatparvar will start his PhD in Biomedical Sciences. He received his BS and MS both in biomedical engineering- biomechanics in 2014 and 2016. His research interest is in field of orthopedic biomechanics. His master thesis in University of Isfahan was about "the preventing of thermal osteonecrosis while drilling". Besides, he has been working as a member of a orthopedic surgical group for more than 5 years.
