Department of Anatomy

Welcome on the website of the Research Chair in Functional Anatomy

The mandate of the Research Chair in Functional Anatomy is to promote and facilitate the development of research in musculoskeletal health and functional anatomy.

Studies to be undertaken will cover a broad spectrum ranging from studies of functional anatomy to the effects of surgical procedures. These new data will permit the development of valid three-dimensional models (engineering).  These models will help to predict the repercussions of specific surgical procedures on biomechanics, in short to medium terms. Therefore, these models would allow surgeons to be guided towards the best therapeutic option.

This chair will permit us to respond to the challenges / strategic orientations inherent to both, the department of anatomy and our university. The anatomy department shows a great dynamism in research. In fact, this chair will facilitate the development of a surgical simulation center and improve musculoskeletal health.

Many candidates from different health programs such as manual therapies, physiatry, and orthopedic surgery could answer specific research questions within the framework of the chair's activities. Therefore, multidisciplinary research, linking several health professions, may be beneficial for both, practicians and future patients.

Our university aspires to be recognized as a place of stimulating intellectual development and integrity. Indeed, funding such a chair fully meets the challenges defined in its strategic plan. Lastly,  the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivieres wishes to stand out through the development of new research niches.
