The HRI's mission is to accelerate the energy transition by mobilizing integrated multidisciplinary expertise, ranging from fundamental sciences to applied sciences and engineering, in order to generate breakthrough innovations in advanced materials and energy technologies.

Driven by a resolutely cross-disciplinary vision, the HRI brings together expertise in fundamental sciences, applied sciences, and engineering to address the complex challenges of the energy transition. Its objectives are to produce knowledge with a high scientific and technological impact, develop sustainable energy solutions, and train a highly skilled and versatile workforce capable of innovating at the interface of energy, materials, and engineering.

Laboratories at Hydrogen Research Institute (HRI) specialises in design, synthesis, characterisation, and testing of novel materials for renewable energy applications.

A variety of Masters and Doctorate programs offered at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR)(nouvelle fenêtre) by departments of Chemistry, biochemistry and physics, Electrical Engineering(nouvelle fenêtre) and Mechanical Engineering(nouvelle fenêtre) are; Masters in Science: Energy and Materials (1731)(nouvelle fenêtre), Doctorate in Science: Energy and Materials (1732)(nouvelle fenêtre), Masters: Electrical Engineering (3824)(nouvelle fenêtre), Doctorate: Electrical Engineering (3739)(nouvelle fenêtre).
