Canada Research Chair in the History of Population Dynamics in Quebec (19th and 20th Centuries), conducts socio-historical analyses of the demographic components that forged contemporary Quebec. Harton and her research team are examining family reproduction and migrations as well as the linkages between these two phenomena in the lives of men and women against the backdrop of urbanization and industrialization. Their work is based on the latest developments in the field of digital humanities relating to historical population files and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
