Oh! je voudrais tant | Oh, I would like you so much |
que tu te souviennes | to remember |
Des jours heureux | the happy days |
où nous étions amis. | when we were friends |
En ce temps-là | at that time |
la vie | life |
était plus belle, | was more beautiful |
Et le soleil | and the sun |
plus brûlant | was hotter, brighter |
qu'aujourd'hui. | than today |
Les feuilles mortes | dry leaves |
se ramassent à la pelle. | can be picked up by the shovelful, by the load |
Tu vois, | you see |
je n'ai pas oublié... | I did not forget |
Les feuilles mortes | dry leaves |
se ramassent à la pelle, | can be picked up by the shovelful, by the load |
Les souvenirs | memories |
et les regrets aussi. | and regrets, too |
Et le vent du nord | and the north wind |
les emporte | blows them away |
Dans la nuit froide | into the cold night |
de l'oubli. | of oblivion |
Tu vois, | you see |
je n'ai pas oublié | I have not forgotten |
La chanson | the song |
que tu me chantais. | you used to sing to me |
C'est une chanson | this song |
qui nous ressemble. | is like us |
Toi, tu m'aimais | you loved me |
et je t'aimais. | and I loved you |
Nous vivions tous les deux ensemble. | we used to live together |
Toi qui m'aimais, | you loving me |
moi qui t'aimais. | me loving you |
Mais la vie sépare | but life separates |
ceux qui s'aiment | lovers |
Tout doucement, | very slowly |
sans faire de bruit. | without noise |
Et la mer efface | and the sea erases |
sur le sable | in the sand |
Les pas | the footprints |
des amants désunis. | of lovers with broken-hearts |
La, la, la, la... | |
La, la, la, la... | |
Mais la vie sépare | but life separates |
ceux qui s'aiment | lovers |
Tout doucement, | very slowly |
sans faire de bruit. | without noise |
Et la mer efface | and the sea erases |
sur le sable | in the sand |
Les pas | the footprints |
des amants désunis. | of lovers with broken-hearts |
