Children with disabilities are two to three times more likely to experience sexual violence compared to their peers without disabilities. They are also at greater risk of experiencing various forms of victimization in adulthood.

STUDY 1

Linking medical data from the RAMQ with records from Child Protection Services to prospectively evaluate the factors and consequences associated with maltreatment, including sexual violence, as well as the influence of medical, social, and rehabilitation services received by children with intellectual disabilities.

Study 2

Collecting data from parents to examine the behavioral and emotional difficulties of maltreated children with intellectual disabilities, going beyond the information available in the various databases used in Study 1.
