Universalis Causa scholarships for master's and PhD programs

These scholarships are available to any student who is admitted to our master's or doctoral research programs, provided they are eligible. Students do not need to submit a formal application to receive this scholarship: their eligibility is verified each semester by the Dean of Studies during the week following the deadline for withdrawal with refund (indicated at calendrier universitaire).Next, if the student meets all eligibility criteria, the Dean's Office will send an email to their UQTR address to schedule the payment for that semester.

It is important to allow several weeks at the beginning of each semester before the student receives the scholarship payment in their bank account. This is because the scholarship is not specifically intended to help cover registration fees. However, for each semester, students are strongly encouraged to pay their registration fees as soon as possible after completing their registration. Therefore, students are strongly encouraged to establish an agreement with their research supervisor in advance so that financial resources are available at the beginning of the first registration session to pay registration fees and initial living expenses (housing, food), transportation, etc.

It should be noted that international students who arrive at UQTR after the official start date of their first semester remain eligible for the scholarship during their first semester. As soon as they arrive at UQTR and complete their registration for their first semester, they must notify the program administration (at Dir.Cycles.Sup.Bcm@uqtr.ca), who can then inform the Dean of Academic Affairs and request the first payment of their scholarship.

Scholarships for written and oral scientific communications 

These scholarships are offered by the Dean of Academic Affairs when students produce oral and written scientific communications (presentation of a poster or oral communication at a conference; scientific article as first author).

Scholarships for participation in scientific writing sessions

For master's and doctoral students who need to write a scientific article, a grant application, their dissertation or their thesis: the Thèsez-vous organization offers supervised writing periods, online or in person.

Additional financial support from the research supervisor

The various financial supports listed above are all cumulative and will usually be increased by the researcher supervising the master's or doctoral student. The amount and frequency of the grants that a researcher can pay to their graduate student can vary, depending on the student's training, among other criteria. It is important that this financial support be discussed by the researcher and their student, from the moment they complete the Plan global d'études of the student, either from the first weeks of his master's or doctoral program.
