PDG1072 - Advanced Oral Communication for Second Language Teachers

This course aims to help students develop efficient oral communication skills for the second language classroom context. Based on foundations of classroom communication, the course combines theoretical considerations with playful exercises and simulations of oral communication in the second language classroom. Included are topics such as communication competence and teacher presence; facilitators and barriers to communication in the L2 classroom; verbal, paraverbal and nonverbal communication; and quality oral messages.

Objectives :

1. Discuss efficient oral communication in the second language classroom.
   
2. Experiment and apply various verbal, paraverbal, and nonverbal communication techniques to develop or refine oral communication skills.
   
3. Deliver efficient oral presentations adapted to clientele targeted.
   
4. Analyse oral presentations in light of principles of effective oral communication and quality of oral messages.
