|
The name of the singer |
Si tu savais | if you knew |
comme on s'ennuie | how boring it is |
A la Manic | la Manic is a famous dam in Northern Québec. |
Tu m'écrirais | you would write |
bien plus souvent | a lot more often |
A la Manicouagan | at la Manicouagan |
Parfois | sometimes |
je pense à toi | I'm thinking about you |
si fort | so strongly |
Je recrée | I recreate, I imagine |
ton âme | your soul |
et ton corps | and your body |
je te regarde | I look at you, I see you |
et m'émerveille | and I'm dreaming |
Je me prolonge | I extend myself |
en toi | in you |
Comme le fleuve | like the river |
dans la mer | into the see |
Et la fleur | and the flower |
dans l'abeille | in the bee |
Que deviennent | what becomes of, what happens to |
quand j'suis pas là | when I'm not there |
Mon bel amour | my beautiful love |
Ton front doux | your soft brow |
comme fine soie | as soft as silk |
Et tes yeux de velours | and your velvety eyes |
Te tournes-tu | are you facing |
vers la côte nord |
the North Shore (North shore of St-Lawrence river) |
Pour voir un peu, | to see a little bit |
pour voir encore | to see a little more |
Ma main | my hand |
qui te fait signe | waving to you |
d'attendre | to wait |
Soir et matin | evenings and mornings |
je tends les bras | I'm stretching my arms |
Je te rejoins | I meet you again |
où que tu sois | wherever you are |
Et je te garde | and I keep you |
Dis-moi | tell me |
c'qui s'passe | ce qui se passe = what's going on |
à Trois-Rivières | in Trois-Rivières |
Et à Québec | and in Québec |
Là où la vie | where life |
a tant à faire | is so busy |
Et tout c'qu'on fait avec | et tout ce qu'on fait = and all what you are making of it |
Dis-moi | tell me |
c'qui s'passe | ce qui se passe = what's going on |
à Montréal | in Montréal |
Dans les rues sales | in its dirty streets |
et transversales | and across |
Où tu es toujours | where you always are |
la plus belle | the most beautiful |
Car la laideur | because ugliness |
ne t'atteint pas | does not reach you |
Toi que j'aimerai | you I will love |
jusqu'au trépas | until my death |
Mon éternelle | my eternal love |
Nous autres | we |
on fait les fanfarons | we are bragging |
A cœur de jour |
all day long in Québec spoken French, the word ' coeur ' (heart) is often used to mean the very center of something. |
Mais on est tous | but in the end we all are |
de bons larrons |
good guys a ' larron ' is a thief, technically, but here it is a play on christian references. |
Cloués à leurs amours |
nailed to their lovers Again, a Christian play on words and reference to somebody nailed. |
Y'en a | Y'en a = il y en a = there are some of us |
qui jouent | who play |
de la guitare | the guitar |
D'autres | others |
qui jouent | who play |
d'l'accordéon | de l'accordéon = the accordeon |
Pour passer le temps | to pass the time |
quand y est trop long | when it's to slow |
Mais moi, | but I |
je joue de mes amours | I play with my loving memories |
Et je danse | and I dance |
en disant ton nom | saying you name |
Tellement je t'aime | so great my love is |
Si tu savais | if you knew |
comme on s'ennuie | how boring it is |
A la Manic | la Manic is a famous dam in Northern Québec. |
Tu m'écrirais | you would write |
bien plus souvent | a lot more often |
A la Manicouagan | at la Manicouagan |
Si t'as pas grand-chose | if you don't have much |
à me dire | to tell me |
Ecris cent fois | write down a hundred times |
les mots "Je t'aime" | the words ' I love you ' |
Ça fera | this will be |
le plus beau des poèmes | the most beautiful poem |
Je le lirai | I will read it |
cent fois | a hundred times |
Cent fois cent fois | a hundred times a hundred |
c'est pas beaucoup | that's not much |
Pour ceux qui s'aiment | for those who love each other |
Si tu savais | if you knew |
comme on s'ennuie | how boring it is |
A la Manic | la Manic is a dam in Northern Québec. |
