Priority will be given to postgraduate students, early career scholars, colleagues facing unusually high travel costs, and those coming from traditionally under-represented minority groups.
ISECS seeks to spread awards widely, in order to give some help to all meritorious cases. That means that not everyone will get full sums requested.
For Edinburgh Congress 2019, a total of 74 awards were made – to applicants from 25 different countries world-wide – averaging in pounds sterling £434.00 apiece, with considerable variation around the average.
It is worth noting that getting some funding support, even if only partial, can often be used by applicants as a successful trigger to get supplementary funding from other sources, such as universities, educational charities and ISECS affiliated societies.
