Program Description of the Specialize Graduate Diploma (DESS) in breastfeeding

In September 2021, the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières innovated by creating a brand new graduate program in advanced breastfeeding. It should be noted that this program is offered remotely. This unique 30-credit academic program was created by Professor Chantale Doucet DC, MSC chiropractorin close collaboration with Carole Dobrich, BSc, Nurse, IBCLC and International Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and Louise Dumas PhD, retired nurse and research professor.

This graduate program aims to meet the following requirements and objectives:

Skills

Build an interdisciplinary competency framework to establish uniform content for all health professionals and thus reconcile practices and messages.

Interdisciplinarity

Need to harmonize the practices generated by a heterogeneous discourse sometimes contradictory of the different health professionals in terms of breastfeeding. Understand the determining factors.

Practice environments

The inadequacy of competency-based learning compared to theoretical learning is widely highlighted by experts in the field.
