Round-Table, Dr. Josipa Petrunic (Executive Director of the Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium):
This panel will discuss the merits and disadvantages of varied national and sub-national policies aimed at addressing, improving, and supporting electrified vehicle uptake and innovation. The speakers will explore a series of policies existent in the United States and Canada, as they relate to the design, development, manufacture and ultimate adoption of electrified vehicle systems, including hybrid, plug in hybrid, all electric, and fuel cell vehicles. Some of these policies have been driven by environmental and health concerns (i.e. smog reduction); others have been driven by employment and manufacturing concerns. Across the spectrum, "EV" policies have experienced a mixed bag of success and failure over the past decade. The panelists will analyze the future of EV policy going forward.
