Programme Intensive

program description

This is an immersion program lasting 3 or 5 weeks. Weeks of discovery, new acquaintances and exchanging ideas, in a stimulating setting for learning your second or foreign laguage.

The program includes French classes, various workshops and socio-cultural activities to improve French. 

 

admission requirements and registration

To be elligible, you must fullfill the following criteria:

  • must be at least 17 years old;
  • have completed at least Grade 12 (High School).

To register, you must send us the following documents:

CANADIANS :

  • The admission and registration form including a photocopy of your birth certificate or proof of your Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status (minimum size 4” X 6”, both sides if applicable).
  • A copy of your most recent transcript which includes your name and the institution name.
  • The code of conduct and residence regulations form
  • The online placement test.

NON-CANADIANS :

  • The admission and registration form including a photocopy of your passport (minimum size 4” X 6”) and a photocopy of your health insurance policy (showing the start date and the expiry date).
  • A copy of your most recent transcript which includes your name and the institution name.
  • The code of conduct and residence regulations form
  • The online placement test.

Cours

The French as a second language courses are based on an integrated-skills approach with speaking, listening, writing and reading components.  Instructions also cover the enrichment of vocabulary and the understanding of grammar.

The program offers French courses for beginner, intermediate and advanced level. Students are in class for 3 hours and a half every morning from Monday to Friday and must participate in workshops or activities offered in the afternoon.

departure

Arrival

Participant check-in will take place on the Sunday prior to the start of the program, from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, in the Albert Tessier pavilion

Departure

Student departure is scheduled for the last Friday of the program, before 5:00 PM.

Lodging

Participants are accomodated in student residences located on campus, just a short walk from the main building where most of the activities will take place.

Each apartment consists of four bedrooms, along with a shared kitchen, living room, and bathroom. In each of the bedrooms, there is a single bed (bedding and pillow included), a work desk, and a closet. Students share their apartment with other participants from the same program of the same gender.

If you wish to share accommodation with an acquaintance, you must make the request at least 2 weeks before the start of the program by contacting us via email.

There are four bedrooms per apartment along with a full kitchen

The kitchen is equipped with :

  • kitchen table with 4 chairs
  • Stove
  • Refrigerator

*Kitchen accessories, such as utensils and cooking equipment, are not provided.

Washers and dryers are available in the basements of each residential building.

Free Internet access (WIFI) is available in all rooms.

Nourriture

meals

Healthy and balanced meals are prepared for you every weekday (from Monday to Friday). An allowance will be given in installments to cover a part of the food expenses during your stay. 

Please note that the cafeteria is not opened on weekends.

    Participants in the Spring Explore program are eligible for a summer job program (Languages at Work) following the five-week immersion courses.

    The parent wishing to come with his child of 3 year old or less years old, please contact our team at dir.eif@uqtr.ca.

    The parent wishing to come with his child from 4 to 11 years old will have access to the Camp Multisport of CAPS of UQTR. The child will have activities while the parent will be in class. You can contact minipats@uqtr.ca for additional informaion.
