Rebuilding a BREP Model from Finite Elements Analysis Results

Description

Modelling an integrated CAD/FEA system requires that all data constituting the model remains compatible and coherent through the whole CAD/FEA process.

Among the causes which prevent from always maintaining coherence between CAD and FEA, is model deformation. When FE calculations lead to permanent deformations for an object, this should be extrapolated to the object's geometric representation. FEA calculations results represent permanent deformation as nodes displacements on the object's initial mesh. In order to maintain integrity between CAD and FEA results, these nodal displacements must be extrapolated to the object's representation as a solid model.

The aim of this research project is to bring a solution to the problem mentioned above. More precisely, it means to rebuild a CAD BREP model of an object starting from an initial mesh and FEA results on this mesh (permanent nodal displacements).
