The first edition of the Pan-Canadian and International Fall School on Hydrogen Safety & Entrepreneurship will be held from September 27 to October 1, 2026, in Trois-Rivières, alongside the second edition of HYVOLUTION CANADA, an international event dedicated to hydrogen. It will bring together participants from various Canadian hydrogen hubs, including British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, the Maritime Provinces, and Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as from around the world.

The IRH, The CIRIF on Hydrogen and Decarbonization, the Energy Transition Valley (VTE), and their partners will host the first edition of the Pan-Canadian and International Fall School on Hydrogen Safety & Entrepreneurship. As the first formal event bringing together the Pan-Canadian Alliance of Hydrogen Hubs, the event is aimed at the student community (including postdoctoral fellows) as well as professionals and employees in the sector. The school aims to foster exchanges between the research, innovation, and industry communities around two key themes: hydrogen safety and the role of scientific entrepreneurship.
The program will include, in particular, a first day (Day 1) dedicated to hydrogen safety, featuring a three-hour training session leading to a certificate with continuing education credits (CECs) as well as demonstrations under real-world conditions. The second day (Day 2) will focus on the deployment of the hydrogen sector in Canada in collaboration with various Canadian hydrogen hubs. Participants will also have full access to the two days of the HYVOLUTION Canada international conference (D3 and D4). Finally, the fifth day (D5) will be dedicated to facility tours and entrepreneurship.
The school will also feature expert panels, technical exchange sessions, and presentations addressing both technological challenges and issues of governance, energy resilience, and social acceptability related to the deployment of the hydrogen sector in Canada. Additionally, cross-cutting activities will be included to foster scientific exchange and networking.
