When do courses start?

Is attendance in class mandatory?

Attendance is mandatory for all students. You must also participate in the activities organized by l'Ecole. Justification of any absences must be given to the administration.

Do you offer French courses at all levels?

We offer French courses at every level of language proficiency. A placement test allows us to determine your level and to fit you into the best group for you.

How are we graded (for courses allowing students to obtain university credits)?

Since the courses are university level, you will have assignments, written papers and exams during the session. To complete your program you must have taken the final exam. These two tests are administered on the last day of class. 

Students must order their transcript from the Centre Ressources Multiservice, as it will not be issued automatically. However, students enrolled in program 9911 (non-credit) will receive their transcript directly from the EIF.

The grading system:

A+ = 4.3     A = 4      A- = 3.7
B+ = 3.3     B = 3       B- = 2.7
C+ = 2.3     C = 2      C- = 1.7
D+ = 1.3     D = 1

Do you offer French courses to people of all ages?

During the spring and summer sessions we offer French courses to people aged 3 to 99 years old! During the fall and winter sessions, people aged 18 and older can enrol in one of our programs.

Should I buy any special materials before I arrive?

A dictionary as well as a book of verb conjugations are strongly recommended. You may buy these at the University's bookstore.

I need to borrow educational materials. Where should I go?

The library is located on the 2nd floor of the Albert-Tessier pavilion. A media library is available on the 2nd floor of the library and provides a wide selection of CD's for your own learning. You can borrow materials for 2 days. http://www.uqtr.ca/biblio

On the UQTR website, click on portail étudiant. You will also have access to your UQTR e-mail.
