TCF Canada or TCF Québec?

This choice is crucial and must be determined based on your profile and immigration objectives.

• TCF Québec is required for procedures conducted with the MIFI (Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration du Québec).

• TCF Canada is required for applications submitted to IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).

Please note that TCF Canada may be accepted in place of TCF Québec; however, the reverse is not possible.

Can the ÉIF provide me with information about immigration requirements?

No. The ÉIF is a testing center, but it is not authorized to provide immigration advice. You are solely responsible for choosing the appropriate TCF. We therefore recommend consulting official government websites or qualified professionals.

Where and how can I take the TCF?

The ÉIF offers two official testing centers:

• In Trois-Rivières

• In Drummondville

Please note that the TCF is administered in person only: you must be physically present at the test center.

How do I register for the TCF?

Simply complete the online registration form by selecting the date, location, and type of TCF (Québec or Canada).
Once the form is completed, you must submit it and proceed with payment directly without leaving the actual page.

How do I pay for the TCF?

The payment page will automatically appear once the registration form has been submitted.
Carefully read the on-screen instructions and follow the steps until payment is completed.

Do I need a Desjardins account to make the payment?

No. You only need a credit card.
The payment platform is managed by Desjardins, but all VISA and MasterCard credit cards are accepted.

Can I choose or change the time of my test?

No, it is not possible to choose or modify the assigned time.

What happens if I arrive late?

Since the number of seats is limited, you will not be allowed to enter the exam room.
Regarding the speaking test, any additional examiner time will be charged to you.

What happens after I register?

Once your registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email. Please read it carefully, as it contains important information.
Only the payment serves as final proof of your registration.

When will I receive my test notification?

You will receive your notification on the Monday preceding your TCF date.

• If you have not received it by Monday after 4:00 p.m., please check your spam/junk mail folder.

Can I postpone my TCF?

The date selected at the time of registration is final. No postponement is possible.

Can I get a refund?

Registration fees are strictly non-refundable, except in cases where valid written proof (such as accident, illness, or the death of a close relative) is submitted within two (2) weeks.

If the documentation is approved, an administrative fee of fifteen percent (15%) will be withheld.

What if I require special accommodations?

It is possible to request specific accommodations in cases of disability or documented health conditions. A valid medical certificate, issued within the last two (2) years, must be provided.

You are required to inform us at least two (2) months prior to the test date at the following address: eif.tcf@uqtr.ca.

Are there information sessions to better understand the test?

Yes. The ÉIF organizes free information sessions, open to everyone.

These sessions cover the test structure, the types of tasks, and resources to help you prepare effectively.

Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes, including a Q&A period.

Registration is done through the website. The session is held online via Zoom, and you will receive the Zoom link on the morning of the session.

Please note that these workshops do not guarantee higher test scores, but they provide a better understanding of expectations and allow practice under conditions similar to the actual test.

What should I do if I fail the TCF?

You must wait twenty (20) days before registering again.

• For the TCF Canada, you are required to retake all test components.

• For the TCF Québec, you may retake only the component(s) you failed.

How long does the TCF take?

The TCF lasts approximately four (4) hours, including identity verification, on-site photo capture, signatures, and instructions.
You should plan for a full half-day to complete your test.

When and how will I receive my certificate?

Certificates are sent by email within fifteen (15) business days after the test date.

Can I request a re-evaluation of my results?

A re-evaluation is possible only for the written and oral expression components.
It is carried out by France Éducation International and may take between one (1) and one and a half (1.5) months.

• The new result may be lower, higher, or identical to the initial result.

• If your score is modified, you will receive a 50% refund of the re-evaluation fee.

• If your score remains unchanged, no refund will be issued.
