Is Trois-Rivières a safe town?

Trois-Rivières is one of the safest towns in Canada.

Do I need to buy medical insurance before I leave home?

Canadian participants are usually covered by their province's health insurance. Should a medical consultation be necessary during your stay, there may be fees to pay. It is important to verify your province reimbursement and compensation policies. Please note that it is very important that you bring your health insurance cards.

Non-Canadian students must procure health insurance before leaving home. It is also possible to buy insurance here, as soon as you arrive at the University. Non-Canadian students enrolled in a graduate program are automatically covered by the UQTR's mandatory health insurance policy.

How high is the cost of living in Trois-Rivières?

The cost of living is among the lowest in Canada.

Is the student insurance automatically included in the tuition fees each term?

Yes.

If you do not need it, you can remove it from your tuition invoice by clicking the modification link, but please make sure to respect the deadline to do so.

If you keep the insurance for the fall term, you are required to maintain it for one full year. You will only be able to cancel it during the next fall term.

It is also possible to keep only the dental insurance coverage.

Is the University far from stores, boutiques and supermarkets?

The UQTR and the residences are about a 10-minute walk from restaurants, drugstores, supermarkets and a shopping mall.

Is the University a non smoking environment?

It is strictly forbidden to smoke inside the UQTR buildings and university residences. Moreover, if you want to smoke you must be more than 9 metres from the outside entrance to the buildings.

How can I travel if I don't have a car?

I did not receive my bursary. Who should I talk to?

Where should I go to get my student card?

The Centre de ressources multiservice is where you can get your student card and is located at the main entrance hall of the Albert-Tessier pavilion. The student card gives you access at the CAPS, the borrowing of materials at the library along with the use of printers.
