- The eligibility period corresponds to the first six sessions of graduate (master’s) studies. To apply, you must have been enrolled in a master’s program for no more than 3 full-time sessions (1 year) as of May 1, 2026. Any sessions already completed in a master’s program (or equivalent) at the time the scholarship takes effect will be deducted from the duration of funding.
Specific conditions for candidates at doctoral level
- Double doctoral degree programs (cotutelles) are not admissible.
- Candidates are eligible for doctoral merit program scholarships from MES in the first nine sessions of their doctoral studies. All doctoral sessions, funded or unfunded, completed before the scholarship takes effect, are used in calculating the eligibility period. Semesters already completed in another Phd program are accounted for in the 9 semesters.
- A candidate admitted into a doctoral program straight from a bachelor’s program and one who fast tracks into a doctoral program without writing a thesis must apply to the PhD scholarships competition to obtain the scholarship during the 3rd, 4th, and 5th years of their graduate studies (sessions 7th to 15th).
