INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: PREPARING FOR YOUR ARRIVAL AT UQTR

AFTER OBTAINING ADMISSION TO THE MASTER'S OR DOCTORATE IN CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

All the steps required for obtaining the two authorizations required for international students to study in Quebec are detailed on the Immi + website. The application process must be initiated as soon as admission to the study program is received. Processing times for CAQ and Canadian study permit applications vary, but it should be expected that the entire process will take several months.

1. Apply for a temporary selection for studies from Quebec's government (Certificat d'acceptation du Québec; CAQ)

The official message from UQTR confirming your admission to program 1662 or 1694 must be attached to your electronic CAQ application.

2. Apply for a Canada's study permit

The official letter confirming that you have obtained your CAQ must be attached to your electronic application for a Canadian study permit.

To establish your financial capacity during an initial application, you will need to demonstrate to the immigration officer that you will have the necessary funds for the first year of your study program. This demonstration should not take into account any future income you may earn after arriving in Canada, such as through employment.

It is important to carefully prepare your financial capacity letter. The more complete your letter is, the more convincing it will be, and the greater your chances of receiving legal authorization to stay in Canada.
