admission requirements

IN THE doctoral PROGRAM IN CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
  • To hold an american Master's degree, or a 2-year Master1+Master2 degree (M1+M2) in research or equivalent or higher training, obtained with a cumulative average of at least 3.0/4.3 or 12/20 or equivalent, in medical biology, biochemistry, chemistry, biology or a discipline deemed sufficiently related by the program committee. Candidates with training in medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, microbiology or other disciplines moderately related to the chosen profile may be admitted subject to certain supplementary courses.
  • To have previously obtained acceptance of research supervision by one of the UQTR researchers with research programming in cellular and molecular biology.

    Exceptionally, students who do not meet the above requirements for admission to the program on a university basis because they have not completed a master's degree in research or the equivalent, in an accepted field of specialization and with the minimum cumulative average required, could be admitted to the program if they meet all of the following conditions:

    • they have completed an undergraduate university program in an appropriate field of specialization (cellular and/or molecular biology, or a related field such as biochemistry) with a minimum cumulative average of 3.0/4.3 or 12/20 or the equivalent;
    • they have completed at least 8 months of full-time, non-credit laboratory research, or at least 16 months of part-time, non-credit laboratory research;
    • this research experience is in an appropriate field of specialization (cellular and/or molecular biology, or related field such as biochemistry);
    • they have taken the necessary steps to ensure that their application for admission is accompanied by an email from a regular UQTR professor authorized to supervise research in cellular and molecular biology, confirming that he or she agrees to supervise them if they are admitted to the program.
