Summers programs

Where will I stay?

During your stay at the EIF you will be housed in one of the campus residences.

Where could I take my meals?

You will receive a meal allowance that can be used in restaurants, at the cafeteria, or to purchase food from the grocery store. A dining space is available at the UQTR cafeteria, but you may also eat in your apartment.

Will I be sharing an apartment?

You will share an apartment with three other participants from your program, but you will each have your own room (bed, desk and closet).

If I suffer from an allergy or from a food limitation, I have to inform you about it?

You must let us know of any food allergies or dietary restrictions at least two weeks before the start of the program. The information must be written on the health information form.

Can I bring a laptop computer?

Yes. Wi-Fi service (wireless access zone) is available at no charge everywhere in the University and in the residences. Please note that there is a limit to how much you can download.

Can I choose my roommates?

Only if you send your request to the person in charge of the accommodation at dir.eif@uqtr.ca at least two weeks before the beginning of the program.

Can mail be delivered to me during my stay?

It is important to give parents and friends the exact address of l'École internationale de français to ensure that you receive your mail :

Are there computers available on the campus?

Public computer rooms are available to students at all time and provide access to Internet.

Can the apartments be mixed?

Participants are always housed with people of the same gender.

How can my parents and friends get hold of me in an emergency?

In case of emergency, UQTR's security guards can be contacted 24/24, seven days a week at (819) 693-5050

Are there sport facilities on the campus that I can use during my stay?

UQTR's Sports and Physical Activity Centre (CAPS) is one of the most well-equipped centres in the region. Your student card gives you free access to the indoor and outdoor jogging tracks and to the Olympic-sized swimming pool. During the autumn and winter sessions, an aerobic room with diversified activity programs and an exercise room are available at minimal cost.

Are apartments furnished?

The apartments are furnished and equiped with a kitchenette (fridge and oven included); however, there are no microwave nor television in the apartments. Also, there are no utensils, dishes, pots and pans etc. Sheets, blankets and pillows are provided, but you must bring your own towels and facecloths as well as toiletries (shampoo, soap etc.)

How do I get to Trois-Rivières by car? By bus?

Can I bring my child with me for the duration of the program, and can he/she stay in my apartment?

Unfortunately, this is not possible.

Can I come with my spouse or my spouses during the program and can he live in my apartment?

The spouses can't stay in your apartment.

Where can I do my laundry?

There are washing machines and dryers available in the basement of each residence. However, you must provide your own laundry detergent

Is it possible to arrive one day early and/or leave one day later?

No, it is not possible to arrive before the start of the program.

Where can i purchase a parking permit?

Monthly parking permits are available at the Centre de Ressources Multiservice, open Monday to Friday starting at 8:30 a.m. These permits allow you to park anywhere on campus as well as at the residences.

A free parking lot (P8) is also available during the summer period, just a short walk from campus.

What should I bring in my luggage? Elements contained in the list are optional
  • Health insurance card
  • Social insurance card
  • Pocket money (about $75 per week)
  • A dictionary and a grammar book
  • Warm clothing (scarf and wool socks in case of changing weather)
  • Umbrella and rain gear
  • Outdoor clothing for excursions
  • Sportswear (running shoes and/or walking shoes for various activities)
  • Swimsuit, swim cap, and sandals (for the UQTR sports complex pool and outdoor pools)
  • Outfit for the end-of-program ceremony
  • Towels and washcloths
  • Soap, shampoo, toothbrush, and toothpaste
  • Kitchen items if you plan to cook (utensils, dishes, pots, etc.)
  • Alarm clock
  • Camera
  • ID card and passport-size photo (for the student card)
  • Laundry detergent. Washers and dryers are available in the basement of each residence.
