Jacinthe Dion is a full professor at the Department of psychology of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (Canada). She holds a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair on Sexual Violence Among Vulnerable Youth, known as the Aquarelle Chair. This Chair aims to deepen our understanding of the factors and consequences associated with sexual violence, and to develop and evaluate new targeted prevention programs for vulnerable youth and their parents. The Chair also explores issues of inclusion and diversity faced by the families of these victims. She is also co-chair of the VISAJ Research Chair on youth and health at the University du Québec à Chicoutimi (www.visaj.ca). Her background as a child and adolescent clinical psychologist has strongly influenced her desire to focus on the strengths and coping capacities of youth and their families. Her research program, funded by national grants, focuses on risk and protective factors of psychosocial adaptation (e.g., psychological health, body satisfaction, self-esteem) among adolescents and emerging adults from the general population, Indigenous Peoples, and victims of child abuse. Besides, she has developed collaborative approaches that involve partners and communities in the research process and which recognize the unique strengths that each brings to the projects conducted. She is a member of several research teams and centres, including CRIPCAS (Interdisciplinary Research Centre on Intimate Relationship and Sexual Abuse), and EVISSA (Health and Sexual Violence Research Team).
