Smart Grid and Vehicles

The HRI multidisciplinary team of researchers contributes to the development of new knowledge and technologies for energy transition and to the training of a skilled and versatile workforce capable of innovating in energy and materials science and engineering.

  • Transactional management of energy and power
  • Distributed intelligence for optimizing stationary energy systems (smart meters and consumption profiles)
  • Microgrids for isolated communities
  • Power-to-X approach to manage surplus electricity production

Smart Grids

The Hydrogen Research Institute (HRI) and the Laboratoire d’Innovation et de Recherche en Énergie Intelligente (LIREI) have expertise in key areas of smart grids, obtained through several years of valuable research studies. Smart grids offer different potentials for improving energy efficiency, service quality, and customer’s satisfaction through the convergence of information and communication technologies (ICT), artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), electronics, and energy conversion systems in general.
