Marie Caltabiano is an Associate Professor in Psychology at James Cook University, Cairns Australia. As a health psychology researcher, she has researched numerous areas but has returned to the area of body image and disordered eating several times during the last 20 years. She has published on disordered eating and attachment processes, predictors of bariatric surgery, well-being post-bariatric surgery, self-esteem, negative affect and interpersonal problems in treatment-seeking obese; binge eating, body dissatisfaction and psychological distress in treatment-seeking obese; digital media and body dissatisfaction; orthorexia nervosa; and more recently on positive body image. Marie is best known for her textbooks in Health Psychology and applied health psychology topics.
